No two calls are the same, but there are some basic steps that you should try to follow on most of your calls. These steps will help keep your holdtime high and your callers happy. For example:

Step 1: Answer, Listen, and Connect!

When a call is transferred to you, your phone will ring just like any regular incoming call. Pick up the phone and listen. There should be a "whisper message" playing that will tell you what type of call you have coming in, and maybe even give you additional information about what the caller is looking for. As soon as you have heard this message, press the 1 key and you'll be connected. Calls last approximately 23 minutes, and you'll hear a verbal "one minute remaining" or a bell when you have only a minute left on the call. This is a good time to give your caller your extension number, so that he can call you again! When his time is up and the computer disconnects you (usually with a "thank you for calling" message). Then, simply hang up until the phone rings with your next call.

2. Go Slowly!
